At the Colby Center, costs are all explained up front with no surprises. Please call us at (407)599-5560 to get details or click here to schedule a tour, where we can give you our current rates in writing, as well as show you around our beautiful studio. Meeting prospective students and their families is one of our favorite things, and we welcome the opportunity to show you why our studio is so different and special!
STARTUP FEES
Students new to the Colby Center pay for a "startup Kit" rather than a traditional registration fee. The startup kit includes annual registration and ALL of the uniform items & dance shoes they need to get started in their chosen classes, as well as a studio t-shirt and dance bag. No driving or hassles for Mom & Dad! Online registration requires a $35 deposit toward the startup kit. (All dance families place a credit/debit card on file at the time of registration, and we use a convenient, safe auto-pay system that runs the last day of each month. Each dance family has 24/7 access to their account and can update account information, register for new classes, and make payments by signing in.) Your show seating (ticket purchases are optional for all families) is determined by the order you register for the season, so it definitely pays to register early!
MONTHLY FEES
Since dance is a performing art, Colby Center monthly fees are inclusive of class tuition AND everything required for participation in our two studio-wide shows: The Annual Winter Showcase and the Annual Spring Recitals. These fees vary depending on the number of classes your student registers for, with each additional class being discounted on a sliding scale.
Monthly fees, which are charged using our auto-pay system from the 31st of July (for August) through the 30th of April (for the month of May & the June bonus week), are the same every month. We are able to keep fees the same regardless of the number of classes in any given month by calculating the costs for the entire year, and dividing them into 10 equal payments. Each class meets 44 times during the season, including all regular classes, the Winter Showcase, the Recital rehearsal, the Recital Show, and two bonus weeks, one in March & one in June. While we do not prorate for missed classes, all dancers are welcome to make-up missed classes during the months of August-November and January-April (makeup classes not available in November, December, May or June due to recital preparation).
During our monthly auto-pay process, if a card on file is declined, the customer will be notified via email and will have until the 10th to pay in full by alternate method. After the 10th, a $25 late fee is automatically assigned to the account, and after the 20th, the student unfortunately will not be permitted to take class until the account, including any late fees, is paid in full. Most often this occurs due to expired/stolen credit cards and you can change those at any time by stopping at the front desk to change your card on file. Students who participate in events such as Winter Showcase, Recital, or any team-level competitions may not perform until their account balance is cleared, regardless of date. In the very rare case of a mid-season withdrawal, a form will be filled out with the Front Desk no less than 30 days prior to the student's last class.
All fees for products & services at the Colby Center for Dance are non-refundable. For safety reasons, cash payments are not accepted.
